We love the vibrant patterns and color combinations in Brita's products! Today we asked creator Pia Gabrielsson to tell us what inspires her as well as share her design process.

Where do you find inspiration for your designs?

Our inspiration comes from travels, different cultures, art, colors we see in nature, buildings, paintings.

What is your process to produce your products?

The design work is made by us and we both often work together. A pattern might be painted with ink or acrylic color – block printed – or built in a computer program for design. When we have a design that we believe in we go to our producer and start making the first physical samples.

    What makes your line unique?

The design is always created by us and we are not very inspired by trends. We have a unique material produced in Sweden and the actual weaving is also made locally in Sweden which adds to the unique design language we have.

Can you remember the first time that design really made an impact on you?

The “first memories” of design is not a specific moment but would probably be the experience of design from the functional era as well as old Scandinavian design like wooden furniture - hand carved and carefully built.

What’s the most treasured item in your home?

Our couch! It is large, beautiful, colorful and extremely cozy.

What’s the most important design lesson you’ve learnt?

You have to trust your own intuition, otherwise it is easy to get lost on the way.
